Winner, Winner
Y'all, we've been BUSY. Between the website and two farmers markets, inventory turnover has been brisk, and we've got TWO new casseroles for you.
Casserole the first, above, is the always-popular chicken and stuffing. The chicken is marinated in lemon, honey, and garlic, the veggies are some of the last sweet turnips of the season, roasted sweet onions, and Swiss chard. The gravy has some early peppers, and plays so nicely with the cornbread stuffing.
Also back: Veggie pot pie! This one is decidedly light and summery: lots of basil, lightly seared zucchini (no mushy squashes here!), hearty Ellijay shiitakes, and plenty of lemon zest in the polenta cakes. Comfort food that won't weigh you down, at its finest.
We've got a noodle salad this week, with lemon and herb-marinated zucchini, jammy eggs, lots of herbs, and kale pesto. So fresh, so green.
And yes, you can still get sesamaretti and molasses cookies if you order by Tuesday but there's an extra special treat on offer: Buttermilk tart with last-of-the-season mullberries! I was in Tennessee this weekend and took the opportunity to score some truly extraordinary Cruze Farms buttermilk. I wanted to make y'all a treat where the buttermilk really shines, and this custardy filling with a rich shortcrust fits the bill perfectly. I strongly recommend getting this while you can, as quantities are extremely limited.
